what questions should i be answering for my seo strategy

What do people usually type in on search engines like Google? As hard as you may try to think about it, the answer is that it will entirely depend on what they are looking for. However, the vast majority of queries revolve around questions. For example, people might input something like “what is the best whey protein in the market?” or “what are the best jogging shoes?”

What do these two queries have in common? The fact that they are questions! As such, it only makes sense that your SEO strategy contains some form of question usage in its formulation.

With that in mind, you might be wondering if questions are even good for SEO. To give a quick answer, they are—but it pays to know what kind of questions you should be tackling, all of which we will talk about in this article.

1. What is…

“What is this? What is that?”

Questions like these are the types of questions that require a specific answer—and they are the reason things like newsletters and FAQ pages exist.

You can look for “What is…” questions about your company specifically by looking at what people generally search online to look for the products and services you offer. For example, if you are selling watches with specific features, people might search for what is this “feature” and how it will relate to their usage experience!

Just remember to provide simple and concise answers. People are generally in a hurry to learn something, and it is up to you to provide those answers in the simplest way possible.

2. What if I…

“What if I do this? What if I do that?”

These types of questions occur when someone wants to find a replacement for something. This is generally common in the cooking world, where people might want to replace a specific ingredient with another alternative.

For example, if someone does not have strawberries for a cake they are making, they might be Googling something along the lines of “What if I replace strawberries with another fruit?” Of course, the question they ask specifically will be different—but the idea is the same in nature.

Your task is to answer the “What Ifs” of what you have to offer, answering questions your customers may not even think of yet!

3. How can I…

“How can I do this? How can I do that?”

This type of question may sound similar to the previous question. However, it is slightly different. In this question, people are asking how they can do something specific. For example, someone might ask how they can ensure their HVAC system is debris-free or how they might keep their car’s engine in the best state possible.

Asking “How can I” about your product and services will allow your users to maximize your offerings, ensuring that everyone is happy with what you provide.

Conclusion

In a gist, questions are great for your SEO! They provide you with all sorts of topics to answer in your blog, videos, and more, offering valuable content that your customers constantly ask about your brand. In the long run, the more content you provide, the more people will come to you for answers. This is a signal to search engines that you are a reputable source of answers—which, in turn, pushes you to rank higher. This will then benefit everyone, with you reaching a broader audience, internet users getting the answers they need, and search engines satisfying the needs of their users!
